The Cultural and Congress Centre Jordanki is a multi-functional facility, situated at the very heart of Toruń – a city being a large economic, cultural, scientist, academic and tourist centre. In 1997 the Old Town of Toruń was enrolled on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The city is annually visited by 1,6 million tourists, both from Poland and abroad. The great magnet of the city are cultural and sports events of international rank.
One of the more important aspects of Toruń is its convenient location. The A1 highway runs close to the city, combining the North and the South of Poland. A great advantage is also the vicinity of the international airport in Bydgoszcz (50 km).
Multi-functional and modular character of the facility allows for organization of event most daring cultural events and large conferences, congresses and fairs. In the building of the Centre there is a Concert Hall (1012 m2 for 882 spectators) and a chamber hall (315m2 for 287 spectators), which may be combined with one another. Owing to the use o mobile auditoriums in both halls, events can be organized on flat floor, e.g. large concerts, fairs, cat shows, and also in a theatre arrangement. The acoustics of the Concert Hall can be modified using mobile ceilings, and the Chamber Hall is equipped with 3D cinema system. Moreover, the Center offers three modular conference rooms a restaurant, a professional records studio and the underground car park for 185 cars.
The building was designed by a Spanish architect Fernando Menis. With its brickwork interior it refers to the nearby Old Town of Toruń. The object has been awarded many times. Among others, its was considered as on of the 7 new Polish Miracles by National Geographic. Moreover, it was awarded the prize for „the best cultural project” during the World Architecture Festival in Barcelona 2010. Modern solutions in the sop of acoustics and shaping of auditorium space make the centre a perfect object for organizers of all kinds of events, both the large cultural events, congresses, conferences, fars, and also the smaller events n the field of MICE.
In the close neighbourhood to the Cultural and Congress Centre Jordanki there are the largest 4* hotels, restaurants, cafes, shops.
The operator of the facility is the special purpose company Centrum Kulturalno-Kongresowe Jordanki Sp. z o.o. , formed on 18 April 2013, whose sole shareholder is the Municipality of Toruń. The President of the Management Board of the company is Grzegorz Grabowski. The composition of its Supervisory Board is as follows: Waldemar Modrzyński, Dawid Jagliński and Jan Hinz.
The Cultural and Congress Centre was awarded with numerus distinctions, for example:
– Prize in the category „The Best Cultural Project” during the World Architecture Festival in Barcelona,
– Prize of the Year 2015 awarded by SARP – the Association of Polish Architects to the Cultural and Congress Centre Jordanki in the following category “public building – cultural building”,
– The Prize for the Best Form of the Building of the Year 2015 (Bryła Roku 2015) in the category: jury choice,
– Distinction in the category “New objects in urban space” in the competition Modernization of the Year 2015,
– The Cultural and Congress Centre Jordanki was on the list of the 6 best projects in the scope of the list of World Architecture – News Award 2016 in the category “concrete in architecture”,
– Finalist in the competition “7 Miracles of Poland” organized by National Geographic Traveller Poland.
